SAP Case Study: Salford City Council

Overview Salford City Council, situated to the west of the Greater Manchester conurbation, provides just under a quarter of a million residents with their council services and employs 11,500 staff. Previously the council had difficulty in identifying the overall purchasing pattern, as different departments used numerous suppliers. Salford Council recognised that an integrated solution was needed and that supporting back office systems must be re-engineered to meet changes in service delivery. In Salford SAP has provided software to deliver all core Finance, HR and Payroll functions. The development of the Financial Services Group has resulted in substantially reduced net staffing costs, but also greater efficiency.
