Computationally Efficient Implementation of OFDM Peak-to-Average Power Reduction Technique

Overview The peak-to-average power of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) signal can be reduced without increasing the out-of-band power by clipping the amplitude of the oversampled baseband time domain signal and filtering using a frequency domain filter based on discrete Fourier transforms. Clipping the amplitude however requires a division operation and this is undesirable in digital signal processing (DSP) implementations. In this paper it is shown that a computationally efficient amplitude reduction technique based on a look-up table can be used with little degradation in performance.
