SONET/SDH Optimizes DWDM Deployment

Overview A Global 500 financial services firm faced a number of critical data storage and network infrastructure issues. The firm was generating a tremendous amount of transaction and collaborative data, creating new levels of storage requirements and pushing the network to 95% of installed capacity. Network performance was consistently degrading and end users were experiencing slower and sometimes failed transactions. To address these burgeoning issues, the firm turned to CIENA and its CN 2000 Storage Extension Solution. With CIENA's solution, the firm was able to leverage existing fiber infrastructure and optical network investments to gain affordable, reliable, and secure storage and BC/DR support.
