Nortel Networks VoIP and Gigabit Ethernet Technology Powers Converged Voice, Data and Video Network at University of Ballarat

Overview One of Australia's newest and most progressive universities, the University of Ballarat is the pivotal provider of post-secondary education for Central and Western Victoria. With an eye on the potential of IP - and trust in Nortel Networks' long-standing Evergreen commitment to investment-protecting system evolution, they purchased Meridian 1 PBXs at the end of 1999, deploying one at each of the University campuses. They contracted Nortel Networks two years down the line to IP-enable the University's Meridian PBXs and - to, support high-speed, high-quality voice, video and data on a single platform - provide Gigabit Ethernet connectivity across campus locations and switched Ethernet services to the network edge.
