Deploying IPv6: Guidelines for ISPs on IPv6 Assignment to Customers

Overview This paper provides simple guidelines for Service Providers in order to facilitate the understanding of the correct assignment/allocation of IPv6 addresses/prefixes to customers. The paper summarizes the information contained in the different documents (IETF, RIRs policies, etc.), regarding the practices for the delegation of IPv6 prefixes/addresses from ISPs to end Customers. The IPv6 address consists of 64 bits of "network number" and 64 bits of "host number".
