Hitachi Storage at Work Case Study: Volvo IT
Overview Large-scale and comprehensive preparation has led to Volvo IT, together with companies such as Hitachi Data Systems, now building up one of the world's largest storage area networks. Volvo identified the need early, and the project was started in 1996 with an initial assessment. Hitachi Data Systems has supplied a total of 46 TB of disc capacity for Volvo IT's storage area network (SAN) in Gothenburg. Hundreds of servers, working on different operating systems and with different applications, have access to a double storage area network with 23 TB per data hall.
