Sun Performs Seamless Migration to High-Efficiency Sun StorEdge Solution

Overview Dow Corning Corporation (Dow Corning) has built its business around silicon. To conduct its business efficiently, Dow Corning relies on its SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which runs on Sun Fire servers with UltraSPARC III processors, accessed by Sun Ultra 5 and Sun Ray workstations. When its volume of data outgrew the company's existing direct-attached storage environment, Dow Corning turned to Sun to help it design and implement a more scalable, cost-efficient storage solution. Working with Sun consultants, Dow Corning migrated, its stored data from direct-attached Sun storage servers to two Sun StorEdge 9980 systems. They considered the powerful Sun StorEdge 9980 system to be the best choice for simplifying the storage environment while providing the ability to scale and maintain the availability of mission-critical SAP applications.
