Hitachi Storage at Work Case Study: Payserv AG
Overview Payserv AG, part of the Telekurs Group, is Switzerland's leading company in the processing of bank and credit/debit card payments. In order to guarantee the highest levels of stability and performance, Payserv decided to abandon the mainframe environment that had evolved over the years and implement a flexible, multi-client compatible Unix-based solution. One major challenge was to cope with the initial increasing of storage volume of at least 85GB per month, slowing down to 5GB in operation. In October and November 2000, the PASS project team created a parallel environment. The basis of the platform was the existing installed E10000 high-performance server from Sun Microsystems, Hitachi Data Systems 9960 and 7700E Lightning Storage Systems and Oracle 8 database software.
