Hitachi Storage at Work: AOK
Overview AOK has been the largest health insurance company in Germany for more than 100 years. AOK staff entered their business transactions into an acquisition system during working hours and all processing and updating of insured persons and family data would then take place in an overnight batch operation. A planned migration to SAP-based solutions would enable processing to be run in real-time during the day, improving efficiency and reducing costs. However, SAP is a storage intensive environment, presenting significant challenges to the way the ISC Teltow's SAN was operated and managed. The solution comprised Hitachi Data Systems Lightning 9960 and 9980V, each with 6.4 terabytes of storage, together with McData directors and rako glass fibre technology.
