Security Takes a First-Class Seat at London City Airport: IBM and Daon Solution Enhances Employee Access, Passenger Safety

Overview London City Airport offers the welcome prospect of less congestion and shorter lines for both business and leisure travelers. The initial approach for London City Airport to dealing with security and safety concerns was to identify and address key security issues, including staffing, cost control efficiency and the application of technology. The result of those considerations led them to seek an identity management system for enabling employee access to restricted areas and systems. Daon installed a security system at the airport based on biometrics - measurable physical characteristics such as fingerprints or eyeprints. The system runs on IBM WebSphere Application Server, DB2 Universal Database and IBM eServer xSeries.
