Powering DDR Memory in Desktop Computers and Datacomm Systems

Overview Today's desktop computers, along with many routers and switches, employ memory chips known as Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (DDR SDRAM). DDR memory is appealing for hardware designers because it maintains the low cost SDRAM technology provides for main memory platforms while increasing the effective data transfer rate. Intersil was the first supplier of a highly integrated, fully compliant, dual DDR synchronous PWM buck controller for desktop applications.
