Security Principles for Policy Makers

Overview Contemporary society has become highly dependent on the interconnected operations of digital computing, which, in turn, has led to dangerous new threats to individual, business and national security. In light of today's heightened security awareness, software companies, research institutions and government agencies are all under increasing pressure to resolve these new generations of threats. Still, the issues surrounding cyber security are complex by nature, and achieving solutions will likely require an ongoing commitment by both industry and government. This paper surveys the technical and public policy issues surrounding cyber-security and infrastructure protection in the private and public sectors, while also explaining some of the available solutions.
