Bharat Petroleum Corporation Uses .NET to Build Laboratory KM System That Integrates Laboratory Information With Plant Operations to Assure Product Quality to Customers
Overview BPCL, among India's top three petroleum refinery and marketing companies, wanted to provide users at its plant, access to custom information on the status of quality of products processed. The development team used Microsoft's .NET technology to extend the functionality of its Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and provide a browser-based interface to the system. The solution connects information from LIMS, the ERP system and plant process, information system, to extend its usage into other areas. Productivity of users increased, by 40-50 per cent. Programming under the .NET framework allowed it to reduce development time by 60-70 per cent, and provide higher flexibility to developers.
