Heterogeneous Data Access for iSeries Applications Version 2
Overview This white paper makes one aware of the options available for heterogeneous data access from an iSeries application. The iSeries applications send SQL requests to DB2 Information Integrator via DRDA; then, DB2 Information Integrator translates that request into a language (e.g. ODBC) that the third-party database (e.g. SQL Server) can understand. When the third-party finishes the requested task, DB2 Information Integrator sends the results of the database request back to the iSeries application via DRDA.
