Data Center Segmentation in the Business Ready Data Center Architecture

Overview Enterprise data centers need to control the paths that traffic is allowed to take. External clients accessing an Internet application typically go to a cluster of Web servers. These Web servers access application servers, mainframes, or databases located in a separate portion of the enterprise network. The company providing the Web-based application does not want external clients directly to access the application mainframes or databases. Similarly, regular enterprise employees have the right to access the Web servers, but only developers can access application servers and database servers.
