Overview In today's complex IT environments, the need for expertise in specific, focused areas has presented a challenge to IT management to have the right level of expertise in place, at the right time, and at a cost-justifiable level. Over the past few years, however, a new model of external service provision, a Managed Service Provider (MSP), has arisen. ITIL plays such an important role in the MSP area that the Managed Service Provider Association recently announced a quality service initiative to adopt ITIL as a standard for operational best practices within MSP Association members.
