Wet Seal
Overview For clothing retailers, it is not enough to have glossy catalogs, eyecatching window displays, and hot styles to lure shoppers. The store experience has to deliver too. The goal for Wet Seal: improve reliability of cash registers at more than 600 stores to strengthen sales and customer service while cutting IT support costs. To do this, Wet Seal partnered with Dell to create a stable, intuitive point-of-sale (POS) system to replace its archaic and patchwork registers running the PIC operating system(OS. Wet Seal deployed 1,400 Dell OptiPlex PCs, along with compatible scanners and receipt printers; and set up broadband peer-to-peer network in stores to speed up credit card transactions and data exchanges with headquarters. Today, Wet Seal experiences high availability of PCs; customers are more satisfied with faster checkout; employees have reliable equipment and can focus on sales; ease of use makes training more efficient; and IT consulting and repair costs are dramatically reduced.
