Embedded System Design Using UML and Platforms
Overview Important trends are emerging for the design of embedded systems: a) the use of highly programmable platforms, and b) the use of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) for embedded software development. It is believed that the time has come to combine these two concepts into a unified embedded system development methodology. Although each concept is powerful in its own right, their combination magnifies the effective gains in productivity and implementation. This paper defines a UML profile, called UML Platform, and shows how it can be used to represent platforms.
