Cisco Helps SURFnet Provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet to Higher Education and Research Community

Overview SURFnet is the advanced research broadband network infrastructure and organization in the Netherlands that is funded by member institutions and government grants. SURFnet looked for a cost-effective architecture and technologies to provide connection speeds up to 10 Gbps from their SURFnet5 backbone to member institutions. SURFnet chose to equip the first of its Cisco 12000 Series routers with Cisco 10 Gigabit Ethernet line cards.
