Honeywell and Bekins Succeed With IBM

Overview Founded in 1891, moving and storage company Bekins, has concentrated on delivering innovative solutions to its clients and customers. Bekins' division, HomeDirectUSA, provides moving and inventory services for logistic and technology organizations. It delivers and installs large, heavy items that companies like UPS and FedEx do not handle, such as appliances and copiers. With more than three dozen warehouses, 50 agents, and a host of e-tailers, Bekins decided to provide a Web-based shipment tracking application. Built on the IBM WebSphere platform and using Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition features such as Java Servlets and Enterprise JavaBeans, the Shipment-Tracking application allows users to track shipments online at any time or place.
