IBM Brings Java and More to Olympic Games

Overview Info '98 serves as the central nervous system for the entire Nagano Games Information Retrieval System. And it provides members of the Olympic Family with a rich and abundant source of information. They can get up-to-the-minute stats, scores, and weather conditions; locate times and places for events; and even check out the biographies and past performances of athletes participating in the events. A redesign of the Info '96 system used in Atlanta, Info '98 uses intranet technology to demonstrate the power of network computing to facilitate collaboration. Info '98 has been modified and re-architected to operate on the RS/6000 SP. Lotus Domino Server and DB2 for AIX are the heart of this system. Truly a global solution, the Info '98 intranet can be accessed by anyone with official accreditation, on-site at the Games in Nagano.
