Using Compuware OptimalJ in a Unified Software Development Process

Overview OptimalJ represents a new class of development tool, called Model-Driven, Pattern-Based (MDPB) development tools. MDPB development tools like OptimalJ have emerged to capitalize on the acceptance of the Unified Process by automatically transforming the models that are created in the Unified Process into enterprise-class distributed applications. MDPB are process accelerators; they do not replace any tool or phase of the Unified Process. Because MDPB tools entered the marketplace after the widespread adoption of the Unified Process, it is not always intuitive to those experienced with the process when and where to use the tools. The purpose of this paper is to close that gap.
