User Models and Authentication Modes in Oracle Database 10g
Overview Numerous applications leveraging Oracle Database?s native user management continue to serve the secure deployment needs of businesses. With Oracle Database 10g, there are primarily two user management options defining users locally in every database (also called local database users) and defining users centrally in a directory (also called Enterprise Users). Centralized user management brings greater efficiencies by not only lowering administrative costs but also providing several strong authentication modes. This paper discusses the two key user management options and the supporting authentication modes in each option.
