Investigation of TCP Performance Over GPRS Using Seawind Emulator

Overview The dramatic growth of wireless network technology has become another hotspot of the Internet today. One of these attempts is the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), a packet based extension of GSM. However, the end-to-end transport protocols such as TCP are not particularly designed for the wireless links. Several enhancements of TCP targeting at wireless technology have been developed. This paper is to evaluate the effects of GPRS mechanism and parameters on the end-to-end performance.
