Introduction to Open Systems PPRC
Overview This document introduces StorageTek?s PPRC software (Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy, a synchronous remote mirroring application) and in particular its implementation in an Open Systems, non-Multiple Virtual System (MVS) environment. PPRC allows multiple discrete virtual disk subsystems to contain and exchange the same information, providing superior protection against data loss from catastrophic events. Once enabled, PPRC runs virtually unattended, allowing data from a primary subsystem at one location to be copied in real time to a secondary (or recovery) subsystem at another location.
