Managing Solaris Operating Environment Upgrades With Live Upgrade 2.0

Overview Performing an upgrade of an operating system and the associated system software is one of the most time-consuming and error prone tasks facing system administrators. This article focuses on how Live Upgrade (LU) provides a mechanism to manage and upgrade multiple on-disk Solaris Operating Environments without taking the systems down. LU provides a framework to upgrade and work within multiple on-disk environments and reboots into the new Solaris Operating Environment after completion of changes to the on-disk software images.
