Overview This paper discusses Wireless LAN (WLAN), which is also known as Wi-Fi and based upon the IEEE 802.11 standard, is a high-speed data networking technology that is widely implemented in homes, schools, businesses, cafes, and other public areas such as congress centres and airports. The low cost of Wi-Fi hardware, the ease of installation, the convenience of having Internet access everywhere, and the speeds of data transfer (up to 54 Mbps with 802.11a/g devices) have resulted in the explosive growth of the number of WLANs around the world.
