Overview In August 2000, mobilkom austria deployed the first nationwide General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) in the world. This groundbreaking solution - incorporating a GPRS core network infrastructure from Nortel Networks - is currently used by 2.8 million mobile customers. The Nortel Networks GPRS solution enables operators to offer full Internet Service Provider (ISP) capabilities. Based on the widely deployed Nortel Networks Passport and GPRS Support Nodes, the solution has a rich, proven heritage for the efficient, cost-effective provision of high-quality, high-capacity packet-data services.
