PA Consulting Group Case Study: Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC)
Overview The Train Operating Companies (TOCs) are 'customers' of Railtrack's radio systems, so when Railtrack published detailed plans for the introduction of a new GSM-R system, the TOCs needed to respond quickly, detailing any shortcomings of the proposal from their point of view. Because of its experience in GSM-R internationally, PA Consulting Group was commissioned to work in a joint team preparing the response within a four week timeframe. ATOC invited PA Consulting Group to work in a joint team and to take responsibility for some key aspects of the train operators' response to Railtrack's Network Change Notice for GSM-R. PA responded quickly, with a highly competent team, and produced quality results in the very short timescale needed. As well as bringing a strong technical understanding of the requirements, PA also brought the benefit of their international experience and lessons learned elsewhere in Europe.
