Eureka 811 Tags Provide Traceability for Tranz Rail (New Zealand)
Overview Tranz Rail is New Zealand's leading multi-mode transport company, offering an integrated national network of rail, trucking and ferry services. Trans Link operates an Amicus Fleet and Freight management system to collate the load and train information. Amicus then generates waybills and carries out routine marketing functions, but the addition of Eureka (AVI) Tags enhances the system by enabling Trans Rail to match wagon supply to demand much more accurately. The 811 Tag used at Tranz Link is of the Active read/write type, this means that data can be received from the tag as well as transmitted to the tag. The tag can contain up to 115 Alpha Numeric characters of Data at any one time. The speed at which each of these tags can be read is dependent on the amount of date being transmitted. In tests the 811 tag. The system operates at low frequency (132kHz/66kHz) to communicate with the transponders.
