Bar Code Labels Provide Inventory Accuracy Improvement to Cosmetics Manufacturer

Overview As the world?s leading direct seller of beauty and related products, New York-based Avon implemented bar code labeling to more efficiently track the millions of pieces of inventory sent to their various distribution facilities. The company previously used ink-jet printers to mark the outside of cartons, but those did not allow for bar codes. With roughly 500 thousand independent sales representatives marketing to men and women in the United States and Puerto Rico, Avon saw bar code labeling as a way to improve the management flow of inventory. The packaging lines are constantly being modified depending upon the product being produced, so RF was chosen for its adaptability.
