Detroit Gleaners' WMS System Makes It a Technology Pioneer for Food Banks Across U.S.

Overview Detroit Gleaners operates a warehouse and three satellite distribution centers that serve five counties in southeast Michigan. Six years ago, Detroit Gleaners, with an eye toward improving its efficiency, installed an inventory control warehouse management system (WMS) designed by SYS-TEC, complete with vehicle-mount terminals from Intermec Technologies. Last year, the system went from batch to real time using Intermec's 2425 wireless handheld computers, MobileLAN 2100 access points and EasyCoder 3400 bar code label printers.
