Boston Edison Company Integrates Mobile Computers to Eliminate Redundancy in Record Keeping

Overview The workday is changing at Boston Edison Company (BECo) headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. A rollout of the Norand PEN KEY 6600 industrial mobile computer from Intermec Technologies Corporation, a rugged pen-based computer with an integrated radio, is helping the utility company transmit data instantly between the field workforce and the host computer system. The result has been automation of field work forms, improved field technician productivity and access to "real-time" data.
