Peacocks Case Study: Productivity Gains at Stores With Bar Code Scanning System

Overview In a drive to increase efficiency in its stores, high street retailer Peacocks has implemented a system to improve stock accuracy and price verification and lookup, based on Symbol Technologies' hand-held terminals and software from Ryzex Limited, provider of data collection and wireless data communication systems. The project, which began in early 2000, was to put in place in-store scanning of deliveries from the Peacock distribution centre in Nantgarw, near Cardiff: and to enable price lookup without having to use the ePOS system.
