New Version of Firewall Solution Improves Security for World's Largest Software Company
Overview Maximizing user productivity requires Microsoft Corporation to provide its employees with connectivity to both the Internet and resources on its corporate network-connectivity that must be protected yet remain accessible regardless of whether an employee is in the office or working remotely. To improve its ability to deliver on that need, the company's IT organization is deploying Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 - an advanced application-layer firewall, Web cache, and VPN solution - in four scenarios: Web and Windows Sockets proxy, secure network address translation (SecureNAT), Web server publishing, and virtual private network (VPN). Improvements and new features in ISA Server 2004 have increased SecureNAT performance by more than 150 percent and are making VPN access more secure, while a new administrative interface is delivering significant improvements in usability and manageability for all four scenarios.
