Upgrades and Migration White Papers

Migrating Software Applications to Itanium Processor-Based HP NonStop Servers

Overview HP has announced that it is developing high-performance versions of the NonStop server, replacing the current MIPS microprocessor with the next-generation Intel Itanium microprocessor. These new servers compile existing NonStop application software from the source code, without changes in the source code itself. Applications based on complex instruction-set computing (CISC) can be interpreted or accelerated without recompilation for full binary compatibility. This white paper describes how migration to the native Itanium microprocessor environment will affect you and your programs, and how you can build and distribute those programs in the new environment.
