Planning for Success: Implementing Large, Complex Programs Requires the Right People, Processes, Technology, and Training
Overview In late 1989, the San Antonio Air Logistics Center (SA-ALC) asked Robbins-Gioia for a solution to the problems their schedulers were experiencing setting up maintenance work on B-52 aircraft and generating timely, accurate, and responsive “what if” analyses. The objective was to increase worker efficiency and productivity by replacing a labor-intensive, manual system with an automated process. Shortly thereafter, Robbins-Gioia implemented a customized solution in the form of a Program Management Support System (PMSS), which provided depot personnel with a methodology, an automated software tool, and expert assistance and training to enable them to explore alternative work plans and identify optimum choices for workloads and available resources.
