IBM's (LPAR) Technology Allowed RMI to Consolidate Its Computers Into Fewer Units

Overview Railcar Management Inc. (RMI) has evolved dramatically in the past two decades. RMI became a service bureau in the early 1980s by offering shortline railroads outsourced services including accounting, auditing and railcar management for railroads and car owners. Given the growth, IBM's leading-edge logical partitioning (LPAR) technology allowed RMI to consolidate its computers into fewer units and create a much-needed backup and disaster recovery capability.
