Utility Application Integration Standards - Perspectives From Three Communities Utility, Systems Vendor and Systems Integrator

Overview Working Group 14 (WG14) is developing a series of standards (IEC 61968) that facilitate information exchange among systems supporting business functions for planning, constructing, maintaining, and operating the electric distribution network. This paper assesses the value of standards from the perspectives of three different user communities such as an Electric Utility, Systems and Applications Vendor and Systems Integrator. This paper seeks to paint a clear picture of the current status of the IEC 61968 standards, and discusses the potential benefits and issues associated with exploiting the standards from these three perspectives.
