Spain - Using Mobile Technology to Improve Health Care

Overview The Vodafone Spain Foundation is using the latest mobile technology to help improve health care for senior citizens and the physically and mentally disabled. The Foundation is a partner in the Healthmate Consortium, a group of companies and universities, which is investigating new uses for mobile technology to support home nursing and patients with orientation problems. A hot key handset has been developed that uses GPS (Global Positioning Service) to determine the precise location of a patient. So for example, if an Alzheimer patient goes missing they can be quickly located.
