Sophos Case Study: Macrovision Corporation

Overview Macrovision develops and licenses software technologies that provide copy protection and digital rights management for electronic entertainment media and enterprise software. The company employs 270 people around the world. When employees began to complain about the increasing proportion of spam in their email, Macrovision took action to filter unwanted and offensive material. The company wanted an in-house solution that was accurate, but would not result in overregulation of employees’ email. Macrovision chose PureMessage because it was easy to install on its existing hardware and delivered a high degree of accuracy in identifying suspect messages. All email is now passed to employees with a tag indicating the probability that it is spam.
