Senators and Their Staff Use Palm Handhelds to Govern More Effectively

Overview As mobile employees, US Senators and their staffs posed a significant challenge to the technology office of the Republican Conference within the Senate. The technology office needed a solution that would provide the senators with up-to-date information-virtually anytime and anywhere-on a mobile device that was easy to use and quick to access. The senators were provided with Palm handhelds; today senators have up-to-date information readily available. Overall program savings runs to hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and there are low training costs and high adoption rates due to its ease of use.
