Pennsylvania Urban Search & Rescue Medical Personnel Save Lives With the Help of Palm Handhelds

Overview The PA Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) team, is one of USA’s 28 elite response teams formed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Previously, PA US&R medical personnel carried InforMed's inch-thick paper-based EMS Field Guide with them, adding bulk to their already heavy load. Searching for critical treatment information took precious time. To solve these problems, today, the medical personnel of Pennsylvania Urban Search & Rescue use Palm handhelds to help them treat rescue victims on the spot, with speed and accuracy. Medical reference applications from Med-Media, including an emergency medical field guide, emergency responses to terrorism guide, and a fire guide, are loaded on the handhelds.
