Wipro Case Study: Pocket PC Phone Application
Overview The client is a leading manufacturer of Portable Data Terminals and bar code technology. A cell phone has inbuilt features to support its various operations. To implement the same features in Pocket PC, an in-depth knowledge of how cell phones work was required. The challenge was also to provide an optimized solution because of the memory and processing constraints of the PDA. An application was developed which supported the features of a cell phone. Wipro implemented an application written in embedded Visual C++. A status machine was implemented which used to keep track of the status of the calls, the signal strength, GPRS coverage. It met customer expectation by making the PDA work also as a GSM phone.
