Fifth Graders' Attention Soars to 99 Percent With Palm Handhelds

Overview Carolina Beach Elementary School wanted to provide one to-one computing access for students to use in all subjects as part of a Technology Literacy Challenge Grant. They purchased Palm handheld computers and applications like Palm Memo Pad, Hi-CE's Sketchy and Bubble Blasters, All You Can Web etc. They found that having one-to-one computing access for its students has allowed the school full integration of technology into the curriculum, much to the students' delight and an opportunity to create a more compelling learning environment. It also helped students focus attention on the core subject matter.
