IBM eServer zSeries z/OS Upgrade From SAP Release 4.6C: Measurements, Advice, and Sizing

Overview Upgrading from one release of SAP to a newer release has always been complex. With the SAP Release 4.6, the zSeries solution supports doing the upgrade application server processing on a restricted number of platforms. At this point only Windows 2000 and z/OS are supported. In the future this might change. But at this time z/OS is the preferred method as it minimizes network time and has the potential for significant reductions in elapsed time. However, the question has come up: “How much time and resources are needed to do the upgrade on z/OS?” The purpose of this paper is to answer that.
