Optimizing SAGE on the Intel Itanium 2 Processor based Platform

Overview SAGE (SAIC Adaptive Grid Eulerian) is a well-known hydrodynamics application in the US Department of Energy's national laboratory community, and the application has been ported to several platforms over the years. As is the case with many other High Performance Computing (HPC) applications, the performance characteristics of SAGE on new platforms is of keen interest to many people in the HPC community. This whitepaper describes Intel Solution Services' findings from performance optimization project for SAGE on a pre-release Itanium 2 processor-based (code named Madison) platform.
