Shared Services, Shared Resources - Flexible and Adaptable Results

Overview Shared Services is not a new concept. Sharing common business processes across business units has long been a goal of decentralized corporations. But assigning some of the tasks associated with such processes to a centralized function can actually break end-to-end processes, leading to higher costs and lowered effectiveness. This fact is evident from both a process and a technology view. This paper focuses on the process view: What is driving the transformation to shared services, what focus is it taking, and how will success be achieved. The end of the paper will introduce the technology view.
