Overview Network monitoring is the systematic checking of key performance metrics to assure that Quality of Service and network capacity are within predetermined boundaries. Analysis of network statistics (performance metrics) can indicate the overall health level of a network at a given point in time, but determining the overall health level of a network today is only the most basic of troubleshooting techniques. This paper presents guidelines for performing a baseline measurement of your network as a whole, as well as for assessing benchmark measurements for individual applications, devices, or users.
