Oracle Database 10g High Availability

Overview Grid computing is a new computing architecture that effectively pools large numbers of servers and storage into a flexible, on-demand computing resource for all enterprise computing needs. The Oracle Database 10g enables to capture the cost advantages of Grid enterprise computing without sacrificing performance, scalability, security, manageability, functionality, or system availability. This paper first examines the causes of downtime. Then paper looks at the technology available within the Oracle Database, with particular emphasis on the new capabilities in the Oracle Database 10g that enable costly downtime avoidance and rapid recovery from failures that can not be prevented.
